3.0 Test Requirements - The assembled seat, including pedestal and mounting base, shall be capable of withstanding the following tests;
3.1
The seat cushion and arm rests shall be vertically loaded with a 400lb weight as shown in Figures 1 and 2. The seat cushion, including upholstery, underframe and mounting base shall sustain no damage, permanent deformation or cracked welds as a result of this load. The arm rests may develop a maximum permanent deformation of 1/8” but should show no signs of cracking at the hinge
3.2
A 250lb weight, as shown in figure 3, shall be impacted horizontally against the backrest to produce an impact force of 1½ and 3 G’s respectively. At 1½ G’s the backrest shall show no damage or permanent deformation. At 3 G’s the backrest may show a maximum permanent deformation of 2” but should exhibit no weldment cracks or other types of failure in the frame work of the backrest. There shall be no dislodging of the seat from its mounting and no permanent deformation of pedestal or mounting base.
3.3
The rotational stability of the seat shall be tested as shown in figure 4. A 160lbs rotational force shall produce no seat failure but may cause permanent deformation of the locking pins which prevent rotation.
